2021 Building Bridges Stay-At-Home Gala

Friendship Bridge’s 6th annual Stay-At-Home Building Bridges Gala took place May 3-7, 2021, with a variety of evening of celebrations held Friday, May 7 from 6:00-8:00pm MST. Our 2021 theme was “Her Business, Her Way” in celebration of the variety of businesses our clients operate a result of participating in our Microcredit Plus programs. From agriculture to artisanry, the women served by Friendship Bridge have continued to be innovative, flexible, and tenacious in their efforts – even in the face of a global pandemic.

By attending our gala, you supported the tools of empowerment that allow our clients to remain resilient. All ticket purchase donations were used to directly fund the work we do in Guatemala. Plus, guests enjoyed a week of entertaining and informative virtual videos, an online auction, and a handmade artisan item – all from the comfort of their homes. We emailed ticket holders a special video every day in early May, highlighting each of our Microcredit Plus programs and a client story from Guatemala. All guests had access to our exciting online auction and were mailed a handmade artisan item. On Friday, May 7, our volunteers hosted parties (virtually and in-person) all around the U.S. to share in on the fun!

We had a fantastic collection of 70+ unique items and experiences for all to bid on in our exciting online auction, all benefiting Friendship Bridge’s gala. Please note: the auction closed on Friday, May 7 at 8pm MST.

Your donation supports Friendship Bridge’s Microcredit Plus programs and services. Our goal is to raise a total of $70,000 through ticket sales, auction purchases, and donations. A generous donor recently pledged a donation match up to $10,000 for every donation received during gala week! This match means that every dollar you donate between now and May 7 will DOUBLE in value, allowing us to empower even more women in rural Guatemala.

  • $50 provides a diabetes screening and exam for one client in our Health for Life program
  • $300 allows one agronomist to travel for one month to train clients who earn in an income through farming and agriculture
  • $1000 provides all of the educational materials used by our loan officers in Guatemala for one month

We had gala watch parties happening in various locations throughout the United States on gala night! Volunteers hosted parties and spoke in front of their friends and family to share their passion for Friendship Bridge. Together as a collective community, they raised thousands of dollars to support our clients in Guatemala.

Thank you, volunteers!
