International Women’s Day is March 8th, 2019.
The theme for this year is #BalanceforBetter
The future is exciting. Let’s build a gender-balanced world. Everyone has a part to play – all the time, everywhere! Will you play your part this International Women’s Day?
Friendship Bridge is a women’s empowerment organization. We are thankful for the support of socially-conscious men who recognize the role they play in creating gender equality. This International Women’s Day, we are inviting men to join us in a fun and unique challenge to step into the shoes of a woman in your life, and take on their role for a day.
Does your wife care for the children? Does your mom do the cooking? Does your sister run a small business? Now is the time to show them your support! This challenge will raise funds on behalf of Friendship Bridge through a Facebook fundraising platform.
Our goal is to raise $5,000! This will support our Microcredit Plus programs that create opportunities that empower Guatemalan women to build a better life.
How it works
- Think of a woman in your life who you would like to show support. Decide on a day to take on her duties, whether they be around the house, on the job, or with the family.
- Make sure you are logged in to Facebook. Follow this link HERE to begin your fundraiser.
- Select the amount you wish to raise. We suggest between $200-$500. Type in your message about the challenge. Here is a suggested message:
“March 8th is International Women’s Day, and the theme this year is #BalanceforBetter, which focuses on gender equality throughout the world. I want to show my support this International Women’s Day by taking on the challenge of doing all of my ____ (wife’s, sister’s, mother’s, friend’s, etc) responsibilities for a day. Funds raised in this challenge will go to Friendship Bridge, a women’s empowerment organization that gives Guatemalan women opportunities to empower themselves to create better lives through microcredit, education, and health programs. Will you support me in this challenge and donate today?”
4. Once you post your message, now is the time to follow through! First, let Friendship Bridge know you are doing the Challenge! We can share your posts and encourage people to donate. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or send us a message through our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/microcreditplus. On the day you are completing your challenge, be sure to take lots of photos, video, or do live posts on your Facebook page, reminding people to donate!
What if I don’t want to do the Challenge? Can I still donate?
Absolutely! You can go to our Facebook page here and donate to our International Women’s Day campaign. Or, you can donate here on our website! Thank you for supporting women in Guatemala, and in your own life! Happy International Women’s Day!
