It is important that we recognize that there remain institutional weaknesses that have allowed the brutalization of women to continue unchecked and unpunished.  This article reflects the tough reality that faces women throughout Latin America.

We at Friendship Bridge believe the primary way to affect change is through non-profit organizations that offer greater support for women to come forward and report these crimes. Education and increased self-sufficiency for women can only help shift the balance.
